3 No occurrence record in ALNHP database but the US Fish & Wildlife Service ( http://www.fws.gov/daphne/es/specieslst.html#Washington) lists this species as occurring in Washington County.
4 Historic occurrence, possibly extirpated in Alabama. 5 Listed by USFWS as Endangered in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina; not listed elsewhere. 6 Historic occurrence. 7 Polydon spathula protected by Regulations 220-2-.94, page 63, and 220-2-.43, page 62, of the Alabama Regulations for 2007-2008 on Game, Fish, and Fur Bearing Animals. 8 Snakes released at one site in 1986, with occasional sightings as late as 2000. Potential to occur in county. 9 Listed by USFWS as Threatened west of the Mobile and Tombigbee rivers in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. 10 Possible occurrence
